NAPLES. March 20.
Our conjectures of an eruption of Mount Vesuvius being at hand have proved true, for on Wednesday last the mountain burst within 100 yards of the crater, on the side of Pompeii, from whence issued a lava of about two miles in length, and 700 paces in breadth; at the same time that vollies of stones, some not less than a ton weight, were thrown out of the crater to a very considerable height, 1000 feet or more, as we could judge by the time they took in falling. The lava has not yet reached the cultivated parts of the mountain.
