TETRO'S NEW FISSURE.

Eight Feet of Solid Shipping Ore Is Being Drifted Through.

E. G. Wooley, Jr., who made an inspection of the Tetro Saturday, stated yesterday that the fissure in which the strike of a few days ago was made is an entirely new one that has not up to date been encountered in any of the mines in that part of the district. It has an easterly and westerly course and is characterized by Superintendent Brown as one of the best he ever saw in the district. Up to yesterday it had only been opened for something like fifteen or eighteen feet but it will only be a day or so till room will have been made to keep a good force drifting in each direction through the vein. Eight feet of ore is now exposed. It is a solid, hard carbonate through which not a little steel galena is making, particularly to the west, and everything now points to its proving one of the biggest strikes made in the Tintic district in many a long day. The ore is said to be of such weight that it makes tonnage very rapidly and a very respectable shipment from it is promised during the coming week. The first lot will be followed by others at close intervals and within a month, or as soon as room is made for stopers, regular shipments will be the order of the day. Sampling at the mine shows the ore to carry, on the average for the entire width of the fissure, from twenty to twenty-five ounces silver and a unit of lead for each ounce of the white metal. Selected samples show much better than that, but when the quantity is taken into account, ore of that grade can be relied upon to make good money for the company.
