The arrival of the schooner Manius Young, in 46 days from Rio Janeiro, has furnished the following intelligence:

Markets very dull for U. S produce, particularly flour, which was arriving in great quantities from Chili. Coffee 300-800 reis per arroba, white sugar 200-900. Hides per lb 9.3 reis. On 1st of Jan. a new tariff was to be established, and the duties would be much increased: also a tonnage duty equal to what the Portuguese pay in the country to which the vessels belong. The U.S. ship Ontario, Capt. Biddle, arrived at Rio Janeiro in 43 days from N. York, all well; she was to sail in a few days for the Pacific, where our commerce was much in want of protection, owing to the depredations of the Lima cruizers. The British frigate Amphion, Com. Bowles, sailed from Buenos Ayres for Valparaiso--great preparations were said to be making at S. Iago de Chili, the capital, to receive him in style, as it is believed he goes to communicate with the Patriot Government relative to commercial arrangements with them. The British brig of war Icarus, arrived at Rio, and proceeded immediately for Rio de la Plata. The ships of war Blossom and Tyne, were at Rio just from England, and it was reported was to be sent round Cape Horn. The S. American station is to be reinforced. There were also at Rio two Austrian Frigates, one Russian do. and several Portuguese ships of the line.

It was reported that the king would be crowned on the 17th Dec. 1817.

The princess Leopoldine, wife of the hereditary prince, had arrived, and was received with great joy by the inhabitants--report spoke flatteringly of her talents and amiable character: the Brazilians augur favorably not only as respects a general amelioration of the country at large, but also that by her superior address she will be able to tame the ungovernable temper of her surly husband, so much desired, as he has shown such marks of tyranny that gave real alarm to the well wishers of the country.
