ADMITTED TO ANNAPOLIS
The following is taken from the St. Louis Republic of March 2, and the second successful candidate mentioned is W. Hays Ferguson, son of the Rev. and Mrs. W. H. Ferguson formerly of this city. The young man is now awaiting his summons to Annapolis, where the physical examination will be held.
Baltimore, Md.-Out of a total of 135 candidates who took the recent mental examinations for admission to the naval academy at Annapolis as midshipmen only seventy-one, or 52 per cent were successful. The list of those who passed was announced today, the academic board having passed finally on the papers at a meeting yesterday.
The examinations, which were completed two weeks ago, were conducted under civil service regulations at the various stations throughout the country. The second and last of this year's mental tests will be held in a similar manner in April. All candidates who pass and are entitled to appointment will be examined as to their physical qualifications at the academy.
Following is the list of those who passed from Missouri: W. H. Bail, senatorial appointment; W. H. Ferguson, Fourth congressional district, and G. Howkins, First congressional district.
