Ingenious Robbery.—On Saturday morning, a fellow calling himself James J. Lewis, went into the house of Mrs. Elizabeth Lane, 15 Broadway, and pretending to be a glazier, enquired if they had any glass to mend. He was shown into an upper room for the purpose, and when there requested the servant to go for a hammer which he said he had forgotten it. The servant went for the hammer, and he walked off with a fur cap valued at $30, belonging to one of the gentlemen boarders. Lewis was arrested and committed, and during the day half a dozen charges of a similar nature to the above were preferred against him.
