Mr. Ridley had determined to move on Wednesday in the House of Commons for the releasement of the Lord Mayor and Mr. Alderman Oliver from the Tower, he applied to a gentleman to second him, who replied-- "No, I will have no hand in any part of this infamous business let those who sent them thither get the Aldermen out of the Tower and themselves out of the scrape how they can; I shall not assist them." Mr. Ridley at length persuaded Sir William Meredith to second the motion; but finding neither side of the house willing to countenance it, it was denied.
