UNIVERSITY TESTS
STATE COAL SEAMS

Tests to determine washability of various seams of coal in the region around Carbonado, Wash., are being conducted by the Bureau of Mining Engineers in cooperation with the College of Mines of the University of Washington, according to Professor Daniels, of the College of Mines of the university. A detailed analysis of the coal preparation plant is to be compiled to assist in the work at Carbonado.

To demonstrate the effect of close sizing on the efficiency of the coal washing process, a "jigging test" from samples of Carbonado coal obtained last year, is being carried on in the Mines laboratory of the University of Washington.

The College of Mines of the university is investigating preparation of very fine sizes of coal on concentrating tables, minute study being made of all materials going into the work, and all processes coming from the table itself.
