—The Denver Tribune has the following iron front picture of that flourishing city: "The period of prosperity which is now upon Denver in its full tide is plainly evident by the solid and substantial way in which our citizens are building. Money is spent almost prodigally for deep, broad foundations, good material put together and put up in such enduring style that it is evident their unbounded faith in the future of Denver, is leading them to build, in a commercial sense, 'for all eternity.' The day of cabins is gone. There is a special mania for iron fronts. Men talk iron fronts: they seem to dine on iron fronts. Our main streets are blocked and straddled with iron fronts. There are a dozen or more blocks under way, and as many more projected, all bidding for substantial iron pillars and fronts. You can scarcely see moneyed men grouped together in an office without drawings of three story bricks before them, and the order being figured to some Vulcan for the necessary iron fronts. The sound of the axe and the hammer are heard on every side. The '59ers are vanishing one by one. The corner where, ten years ago, the new comer, unresisted, 'jumped his cabin,' or the whole square, for which he bargained his old rifle, now valued by thousands and tens of thousands, are being supplied with elegant and stately blocks. The day of improvement is at hand. 'Iron fronts are in, cabins are out.'"
