Full Text
Mayor KING, of Philadelphia, is doing a good work for that city. If he is properly sustained by the moral portion of the citizens, as he should be, his efforts will confer lasting benefits upon its society. His appeal for help to enable him to carry out the law against the carrying of revolvers and other deadly weapons ought to find a favorable response from every good citizen. What he thus aims to do can injure no one and must result in good only. And yet Mayor King does not receive the encouragement he should from the Republican press of Philadelphia. They do not like to see a Democrat even attempt to do a good work for their city.
