Sunday afternoon the children of Mr. Nathan H. Bouknight saw both these negroes on the Pope place, between Newberry and Helena, where their families live. Yesterday (Monday) afternoon the officers went out there to look for them, but didn't find them. Last night Mr. Bouknight had his plows and heel-bolts stolen from his field and the plowstocks were carried off and hidden in the woods. He attributes this to the negroes, who probably thought he had given information of their whereabouts, and took this method to get revenge.
Can't these negroes be caught?
