FIFTH NAVAL TRIUMPH.
We have the satisfaction of recording ANOTHER TRIUMPH over our arrogant foe, more brilliant and decisive, if possible, than any before obtained. That the American sloop of war Hornet, should in fifteen minutes sink a public vessel of England of superior force, and kill and wound between 30 and 40 of her crew, without any apparent injury to herself, and with the loss of but one man killed, must afflict and astonish the Admiralty and Government of England, while it exalts still higher our intrepid seamen in the estimation of their countrymen. In the present war with England, our gallant tars have reaped immortal laurels. In every instance in which they have yet come in contact, the omnipotent British have vanished before them, like dew before the sun. The glory acquired by the bold defenders of American rights, will irradiate the historic page of our country to the latest period, and future generations will look back with admiration to that nervous intrepidity, which dared to put at defiance the "gigantic greatness of British power," and to grapple with the Leviathan on his own element.—Bost. Chron.
