NORTH CAROLINA GOLD.

We have seen some specimens of the ore taken from the Gold mine lately discovered in North Carolina, and brought to this city by a gentleman from Cheraw, (S. C.) about thirty miles from the mine. The metal as taken from the bed, is almost in a pure state—there being not more than 10 per cent. The mine is supposed to be very rich and extensive, and the precious metal is contained in a sand bed. It is obtained by sifting the sand. Sometimes large and valuable masses are found. A poor man, we are told, lately found a piece by accident, which is worth seventeen hundred dollars!
