Legislative:
Saturday, Feb. 21.
Senate.-Act providing for the location of land warrants, referred to appropriate committee. Act amending act to organize Plumas county passed; also, an act amending an act to create Board of Supervisors of Plumas county; also act compensating Gen. Winn for services rendered in Indian war: also act relative to Santa Barbara Board of Supervisors. Assembly concurrent resolution of Mr. Patrick, providing for adjournment on the 4th of March, was laid on the table for three weeks. Bill for the relief of the Sisters of Mercy at San Francisco, referred to the Committee on Claims. A motion was made to adjourn until Tuesday was lost. Bill extending time for payment of delinquent taxes in Tuolumne county was passed. Senate refusing to concur in Assembly amendments to Steamboat "Bonnet and Spark Catcher" bill, a committee of conference was appointed to confer with the House.
Assembly -A bill introduced ceding certain property to the town of Eureka; also a bill exempting mineral lands from the location of School Land Warrants; also a bill concerning hogs running at large in Tehama, Colusa and Butte counties. The vote on the motion to adjourn till Tuesday next, in honor of the anniversary of George Washington, stood 45 yeas; nays, 20. The Committee on Accounts and Expenditures were authorized to employ a clerk for the purpose of examining the books of the State Treasurer. A bill to extend the time of Sheriffs of Tuolumne, Alameda and Contra Costa counties to collect county revenue. An act amendatory of an act relating to mechanics' liens, passed; also fixing terms of Court in Santa Cruz county; also an act concerning tenants and copartners; also an act relative to the debt of Monterey county. The Committee on Ways and Means reported against paying claims of persons for furnishing newspapers to members during last session. The act amending act concerning fraudulent conveyances and contracts was indefinitely postponed. Relief bill in favor of J. M. Anderson, was made the special order for next Tuesday. Act passed reducing fees of County Judge of El Dorado county. Act amending act concerning County Judges, amended and laid on the table till future day. Act to divide the State into Congressional Districts-special order-discussed in Committee of the Whole, and laid on the table one week.
