Ladies Day At
C of C Meeting
Yesterday was ladies day at the Chamber of Commerce with Mrs. Jim McLean presiding at the meeting. Beverly Morgan acted as secretary.
A good turn-out of members with 23 present, in addition to 11 guests, just about filled the Polaris Grill to capacity.
Special guests were Anthony Lausi and Thomas Mooney.
Lausi discussed the interstate freight rate and explained what was being done by the Office of Territories of the Interior Department, to equalize the rate in a fair manner.
In response to an appeal from President Stan Morgan, Thomas Mooney was directed to see that one of the best engineers in the department be brought here to study the water and sewerage system now being contemplated by the city so that many of the questions about the new system can be answered.
Mr. Mooney is the director of the Public Works Department in the Federal Public Works agency.
It was announced that in the near future students of Nome High school will be guests of the Chamber and will be asked to give their views on what kind of Nome they would like to live in what they think should be done to improve the community.
