MESSAGE OF GOVERNOR BROOME, OF FLORIDA.

We have before us the annual message of Gov. Broome to the legislature of Florida. From it we learn that the receipts into the treasury during the last fiscal year amount to $68,364, and the warrants issued during the same period amount to $85,365; showing a deficiency of about $17,000. The aggregate indebtedness of the State, including $73,000 contracted in the protection of the frontier from Indian depredations, is $181,872. With a view to the extinguishment of this debt the establishment of a sinking fund is recommended. Samuel S. Hamilton, president of the Indian Emigrating Society of the Creek Nation, has made a proposition to contract for the removal of the Indians from the State, which will be submitted to the general assembly. There has been a gratifying increase in the population of the State since the last enumeration of inhabitants was made.
