M. Cassini, Pensionary of the Academy of Sciences for Astronomy, made a Report to his Majesty of his Observations upon a Comet without any Train, but branch'd out into several Beams above the Planet Venus, between the South and the West. His Majesty detain'd him at Court, and by Means of Telescopes, examin'd along with M. Cassini the said Meteor, which Phenomenon drew every Night a great Concourse of the Learned to the Observatory to denote its Figure and Revolutions. Whether this be a Piece of Wit on the fallen Minister, or that there was an Appearance in the Heavens, our Letters do not inform us.
