AUG. 5.

Capt. Richard Gaol, late master of the Ship Louisa, of Philadelphia, came passenger in the Emperor, from Port-au-Prince. He informs that the Louisa, with 230 hhds. of sugar on board, was, on the 20th of June, cut out of Leogane Roads by French privateer; that the mate, John Robinson, and a seaman, John Strawbridge, were both shot by the French after the ship struck her colours. They were aiming at the Captain when the mate was killed; but the Captain fortunately made his escape. The ship Louisa, was afterwards chased by a British brig into Cuba, where she was brought by her captors.
