Fatal accident—warning.—On the 25th December, Mr. Josiah McKinney, of Kirkwood township, Belmont County, O., had his leg broken by slipping into the master wheel of a threshing machine, while at work: he died on the 2nd inst., his leg having been amputated on the 1st. When the accident happened, he was driving the horses, and in order to reach one of them, he attempted to place his foot on the sweep, but slipping, his foot went down through the master wheel, and his leg was severed almost entirely, above the ankle. Mortification was observed, and amputation performed above the knee, on January 1st., but it was too late, and he died on the 2nd. This sad accident ought to be a warning to all engaged about machinery. The master wheel above mentioned ought, in all cases, to be guarded by a platform above.-Belmont Chronicle.
