AT TERM
One hundred and six months in sentences and $16,850 in fines were pronounced by Judge Frank S. Dietrich of the United States district court on violators of the national prohibition act at the recent fall term of court, northern division, at Coeur d'Alene, according to figures announced here today. During the term there were 47 convictions or pleas of guilty, two acquittals, and nine dismissals by the government.
Federal liquor prosecutions in Idaho are now being handled by William H. Langroise, assistant United States attorney, a graduate of the University of Idaho college of law and a son of Mr. and Mrs. W. C. Langroise of Moscow. All of the liquor prosecutions at the Coeur d'Alene term were handled by Mr. Langroise with the exception of the conviction of conspiracy of William Kirkpatrick, former sheriff of Bonner county, and "Scotty" Thompson, on the same charge. This case was in charge of John H. McEvers, first assistant United States attorney.
Mr. Langroise was one of the most prominent and popular students of the university during his undergraduate years. He was president of the student body, editor of The Argonaut, official student newspaper, and prominent in debate and literary work. He is a member of the Kappa Sigma fraternity and Phi Alpha Delta, professional legal fraternity.
