Sugar Smuggling in Jersey City.

United States Commissioner Lindsay Rowe held an examination in Jersey City yesterday in the case of the men who were arrested on Saturday last charged with smuggling sugar from the schooner Mary G. Reed. G. Miller, one of the men, confessed to being engaged with the others in the smuggling. The gang took over forty-eight thousand pounds from this one boat and have been carrying on the same business for the last two years. The men, O'Brien, Miller, Leonard and Muller, were committed to await the action of the Grand Jury. Three others, John Moran and James Kennedy, of Brooklyn, and J. Sullivan, of New York, have been arrested.
