A few Days since the House of Mr. Allen, a Dyer in Cattle-street, Southwark, was broke open in the Night-time, and robb'd of sundry valuable Effects.

The many Robberies committed lately in that Quarter have at length induced the Inhabitants to come into a Proposal that in all Probability will prevent the like for the future:

That the Watchmen, instead of idling in the Watch-House, or sleeping on their Stands, are to walk the Rounds and cry the Hour every Quarter, at the trifling Expence of 2d. per Week to the Inhabitants, which is collected and paid to the Watchman himself.
