Berlin Said to be Alarmed Over the Situation.
Berlin, April 25.—The tone of the comments of the press on the Schnaebeles affair and the fresh rumors in relation to the arrest are causing alarm in Berlin.
BISMARCK HEARD FROM.
Paris, April 25.—It is said that Von Leyden, the German Charge d'Affaires, has informed Flourens, Minister of Foreign Affairs, that Bismarck regretted that the Leipsic Cabinet had ordered the arrest of Schnaebeles without consulting the Chancellor for the offense, concerning which Bismarck reserved his opinion.
THE POPE AFRAID OF WAR.
Rome, April 25.—The Pope to-day sent confidential notes to the French and German Governments offering to act as mediator in the Schnaebeles affair.
CAUSE OF THE ARREST.
Berlin, April 25.—The Judge who issued the warrant for the arrest of Schnaebeles asserts that he possesses convincing proof of Schnaebeles being the principal of the party of conspirators in league with the French officers who met at the Cafe Ehrhardt, in Strasburg. The proprietor of the cafe and two architects, named Klein and Grebert, have been arrested.
