June Permits Total $318,799 with Permits Issued for Eleven Single Homes
Permits for the construction of 11 single frame dwellings and for electrical work at the proposed aircraft buildings accounted for a grand total of $318,799 of building activity in East Hartford for which permits were issued during the month of June, according to Building Inspector Charles F. Gifford.
During the month five permits for electrical work at present and proposed United Aircraft Corporation buildings were issued by Mr. Gifford. Two permits issued Friday last were for $100,000 each and were for conduit work, etc. which must be done prior to starting construction of the plant itself. Others were for $50,683, $43,655, and $24,461.
The month's business, which was three times as high as the $121,547 total for May and more than twice the $186,999 figures for June a year ago, was divided as follows: 32 building permits, $59,151; 18 plumbing permits, $6345; 29 electrical permits, $321,22; and 12 heating permits, $7402, making a total of 91 permits, $394,120.
The number of houses for which permits were issued was one less than June, 1939, when there were 12. In May, 1940, permits were issued for 10 homes.
Other permits were for the construction of the new business building for the East Hartford Federal Savings and Loan Association on the west side of Main Street.
