Treasury Clerk Eclipses Record.

There is a female clerk in the Treasury Department, however, who eclipses all records of success in the business. Evidently practice has made her perfect. Long ago she became known to all the clerks and private secretaries of prominent Government officials and business men, and to the stage doorkeepers of every theatre. She became a constant source of dread to these individuals, who possessed a wholesome fear of her dauntless nerve and sharp tongue. Then, too, her methods of attack were as numerous and variable as her visits. Immediately at the close of office hours she would start upon her rounds, and would pester busy people with such regularity and unflagging zeal, that every conceivable scheme was adopted to prevent her entrance into offices and other places.

Nothing, however, could withstand her onslaughts. She would await her opportunity and slip into a room while a clerk or watchman's back was turned, or perform some similar stunt. With the number of her visits the number of albums under her arm grew greater, until she finally began to carry as many as five or six at a time, requesting the victim to place his signature in each.

Reception From Actor With Temper.

Recently she had been tormenting an actor noted for his temper. Suddenly he turned upon her and the string of adjectives which for several minutes came from his lips would have done credit to the proverbial sailor. Then he called the doorkeeper and in no uncertain tones ordered that she be escorted out of the theatre.

She has not since been seen in the locality of that particular playhouse.
