Since our last the Captains Sparks, Hammer, Robinson, Brown and Davidson, arrived here from London. By the Captains Robinson and Sparks came another Supply of Stamps and on Saturday there had like to have been some disturbance here occasioned by the imprudence of Captain Sparks Mate, in landing a Parcel of that detestable Commodity on the Wharff. notwithstanding he had received positive Orders to the contrary from his Captain : but on both the Captains declaring and swearing before a Magistrate, that they brought only 15 Packages of Stamp-Paper, and that they should not be landed without first giving Notice to the Citizens-- The Sons of Liberty then made Choice of a Committee to wait upon William Coxe, Esq: Stamp-Master. in order to demand a second Resignation of his most odious and detestable Office. as they don't think his former Resignation satisfactory,--which they obliged him to do in the most explicit Manner, and his Commission was sent back to England on the Seventh of last Month--The Committee then in the Name of every Son of Liberty, returned him their hearty Thanks, hoping his Example may influence those to do the like. who yet hold that detestable Office.
