Extract of a Letter from New York; dated October 13.

Last Night arrived here the Earl of Halifax Packet, in 45 Days from Falmouth--The most material Advices by her are, That several Skirmishes have happened in Germany between Prince Ferdinand and Marshal Broglio, considerably to the Advantage of the former, and in which the English Troops gained great Honor: That on the 20th of July the King of Prussia was obliged to raise the Siege of Dresden, and retire towards Keeldorff [The Particulars of both which Accounts we inserted in our last] - That on the 26th of July, Gen. Loudoun took the Fortress of Glatz Sword in Hand, and the Magazines which the Austrians made themselves Masters of there, were immense :-On the 30th, Gen. Loudoun advanced to Breslau, and summoned the City several Times to surrender, which was as often refused by Major Gen. Ziethen, the Gov. of the Place; upon which a smart Cannonade ensued, whereby the Royal Palace, and great Part of the City were reduced to Ashes; but on the 4th of August Gen. Loudoun raised the Siege, being informed that P. Henry Was on his March for the Relief of that Place, and on the 5th appeared before that City with his Army; M. Laudohn retired to Schweidnitz and Neisse, which Places he continues to block up :- The Advantages gained by P. Ferdinand are not so great but that Prince Xavier of Saxony, at the Head of a Party of French Troops, has made himself Master of Cassel, Munden, Gottingen and Eimbeck, and is going to lay Siege to Hameln; the Mint Office, Money. &c. are removed from Hanover to Zell; and it was reported, that P. Xavier had advanced as far as-Hanover, but not confirmed: the French found in Munden a vast Magazine of Flour, Oats. Provisions, and 12000 lb. of Powder :-

A Number of Transports were in the Downs, bound to Quebec, with large Quantities of Bedding, Cloathing, and other Necessaries for the Garrison of that Place :- All Talk of a Peace in England is now over, and Preparations making for continuing the War with Vigour :-. New Troops are raising all over the Kingdom; six Independent Companies of which are to be Highlanders : --The French are also recruiting their Army in Germany, where a general Action is every Moment expected :-The Head Quarters of the French grand Army were at Volkmarst, and those of the Allies were still at Warburg.--I would have sent you the Paper of the 22d of August, which contains the above Particulars, but there-is only one of them yet come to Hand :-- Upon the whole, our Affairs in Germany seem not in so prosperous a Situation as your last Boston Papers intimated; tho' Prince Ferdinand has certainly had the Advantage in several smart Skirmishes with the Enemy. [See our last Paper] but the Consequences in our Favour are not so great as we could wish; 130 wounded Men of Elliot's Light Horse, who were at Cassel and Munden, fell into the Hands of the French :- 'Tis said Prince Ferdinand, by a master Stroke, retook Cassel on the 10th of August, and that the French Troops have been expelled from Eimbeck, by Luckner's Corps; but both of which wanted Confirmation."
