THE NOMINATIONS IN SOUTHWEST VIRGINIA.

A Lynchburg dispatch says: "The democratic national convention could not have selected a ticket that would have been received with more general satisfaction than that of Cleveland and Hendricks by the democracy of this section of the State. In this city the nominations were received with quiet satisfaction, there being no public demonstration, but the expressions are general that the party has never had a better opportunity to secure control of the national government. It is the first nomination made by the party that has not been condemned by some of the leading democrats, and has made democracy stronger in this section than it has been since the organization of the coalition party. Parties from southwestern counties report that the same sentiment prevails there as here, and the democrats are enthusiastic over their prospects. In Bristol, Friday night, cannons were fired, flags displayed, and speeches made by a number of prominent democrats, including Hon. Abe Fulkerzon, after which two Cleveland and Hendricks clubs were organized."
