Full Text

The Boston Post contains a long communication to show that Gen. Cass is, and always has been, a devoted friend to Western interests. Every one who knows his history, knows the fact, and his votes and speeches in the Senate go as far as did the Chicago Convention. The writer for the Post says:

"The General was engaged to deliver an address at the commencement at Dartmouth College in New Hampshire, in July, and could not attend the Convention. He simply said so. He was not asked for his opinions on the objects of the convention, and therefore did not give them, supposing them to be well known."
