MUNSAN-(INS)- Full Korean armistice delegations will meet in Panmunjom in a showdown clash over disposition of prisoners of war,
Vice Adm. C. Turner Joy and North Korean General Nam II, the chiefs of the two delegations, will bring their groups together for the first time since February.
Main issue occupying the attention of the delegates will be Allied refusal to return to Communist control prisoners of war who are anti-Red.
(In Washington, a top government spokesman said that "an announcement of major importance but not of a decisive nature" is expected out of the meeting.
(The spokesman declined to elaborate, but it was indicated that an agreement may be reached on the POW issue although no truce itself is expected from the talks.)
The United Nations command declared Friday that only 70,000 of the 173,699 Koreans and Chinese in Allied prison camps want to return to their homelands.
Gen. Matthew B. Ridgway's headquarters firmly added that all future discussions must be on the basis of only these 70,000 POWs being handed over to the Reds.
Ridgway's headquarters pointedly ignored Communist promises of amnesty for anti-Red prisoners and said that death and torture awaited the anti-Reds if the Allies forced (Continued on Page 6 Column 8)
