PRIZE WINNERS IN CARNIVAL PICKED
Committee States Awarding of Prizes Was Difficult Task.

Following is the official list of prize winners in the annual Socialist mask ball held in the Auditorium Saturday night. According to the judges, it was difficult to decide, as there was an abundance of splendid costumes and ideas:

Groups—"Civilization," first prize, $20; "Nigger Band," second prize, $15; "Hobo Boosters," third prize, $14. Other prize winning groups—"White Pajama Girls," "Red Pajama Girls," Fruit Women, "Dutch Women," "Chorus Girls." "Purple and Orange Clowns." "Garibaldi Army," Public Ownership, and First in Peace and First in War.

John Allen and family won first prize for best character. Janecek, 675 Orchard street, second prize, $5, with her "Starve the War and Feed America;" Joe Nozick and Elizabeth Lavine, third prize, characterizing "Europe—Past and Present."

Other prize winners for good characterizations are: Moritz Berson, Peter Weise, and William Ketke.

The most beautiful mask with his "Prince." Clarence Lemke won first prize of $6 for the most beautiful mask with his "Prince." Carrie Miller won second prize with her "Chrysanthemums." Other prize winners in the beauty mask are: Mrs. Wilburth, Hazel Hildenburg, and Paul Jeorge.

The homeliest mask was voted as the old maid with a muff," which character won $3.50. The "Zulu with horns," and the two "woodpeckers" took second and third prize, respectively.

There were plenty of comic masks, but the one voted the funniest was the organ grinder, who ground out $6 as his award. The Dutchman with the lighted nose also was among the prize winning comics.
