Full Text

The Jamaica merchants waited on Lord Sandwich yesterday with their memorial, praying a naval force for the protection of that island, and setting forth the dangerous and alarming situation it was now in for want of that force; when he was pleased to inform them that every step to secure their property in that part should immediately be taken. They remonstrated with him on the necessity of strong convoys accompanying the trade through the gulph, and likewise showed him a list of the nine ships which were taken off the banks of Newfoundland, merely for want of a proper convoy: All of which he assured them should be strictly attended to.
