DR. THORPE, WITH AID OF STOMACH PUMP, SAVES LIFE OF ST. LOUIS AVENUE WOMAN.
Mabel Carr, aged 21, an inmate of a house at 212 North Third street, tried to take her life last Friday evening about 8 o'clock, when she swallowed a number of antiseptic tablets.
Zetta Murphy and Marie Williams who were in the house with her, heard her groaning and at once phoned the police and Dr. Thorpe. Dr. Thorpe, upon his arrival, used the stomach pump effectively. It was said that the Carr woman is separated from her husband, and that, coupled with her being ill for the past week, is said to have made her despondent.
