Plantation Philosophy.

It may take er smart man ter be er raskil, yit arter all, widout good sense dar ain't no honesty.

W'en it comes ter de test, it 'pear like de smooth an' smilin' man doan hol' out ez well ez de man dat ain't got sich er bright face. De crab apple makes better cider den de sweet apple do.

I 'spize ter see er little man dat is proud. He puts me in mine o' de fiece dog dat doan look up ter see how high de co'n stalks is erbove him, but looks down ter see how fur de grass is below him.

We sometimes finds fault wid pussons caze da's changeable, an' say dat da ain't de right sorter folks, but we may be wrong. De green brier neber changes, winter nur summer, but 'stead o' b'arin' fruit it is allus ready ter t'ar yo' cloze. -Arkansaw Traveler.
