Board of Health Permits
Merchants to Extend
the Saturday Night
Closing Hour.

Resolutions of Appreciation Ad-
dressed to Epidemic Work-
ers Passed at Meeting
Held Monday.

At a meeting of the City Board
of Health held yesterday after-
noon, permission
was granted
the merchants of Morgan City
to extend the Saturday night
closing hour from 7 o'clock to 9.
In its official announcement the
board states this concession is
granted with the distinct und-
erstanding that there must be no
crowding and that all merchants
will take necessary measures to
prevent any such conditions aris-
ing by reason of such change.
In fact, according to Mr. Lewis
J. Bass, member of the board,
the order permitting the exten-
sion of Saturday shopping hours
was given to obviate present con-
ditions, as noted by
members of
the board. It was stated that
under the former ruling
much
congestion resulted during
the
last hour, caused by after-supper
shoppers arriving at the stores
about the same time. Under the
new ruling two additional hours
will be given the buying public
on Saturday nights and the mer-
chants are expected to request
their customers to co-operate in
order that a proper application
of the new ruling may be made.
The board while in official ses-
sion also passed the following
resolutions:
Whereas. It has pleased Al-
mighty God to call from earth
to her Heavenly home the be-
loved wife of our president. Dr.
C. C. deGravelles. and we, with
the entire community, realizing
the loss that we all have suffer-
ed, and wishing to ever keep
alive the memory of her unsel-

family, and the community,
therefore,
Be it resolved. That we tender
our president. Dr. C. C. deGra-
velles, our sincere sympathy in
his sorrow, and pray God to give
him comfort and strength.
Resolved. That we appreciate
the untiring efforts given to the
welfare of the community dur-
ing the illness of the president,
and when the Grim Reaper ap-
peared within his own home his
services still continued for the
welfare of others.

Resolved. That in the demise
of Mrs. Mary Nation deGravelles
the community loses a citizen
whose every act was one of kind-
ness, and whose love and devo-
tion to the higher ideals of life
was in perfect accord with her
Creator.
Resolved. That a copy of these
resolutions be placed upon our
records, one sent to our presi-
dent,, and a copy to the daily
paper.
