Inauguration of Governor Noyes.

COLUMBUS, O., January 8.—The inauguration of Governor Noyes took place this afternoon. After a short inaugural address by the Governor, the oath of office was administered by Chief Justice Day.

In the Senate to-day Messrs. Wright, Lee and Branswake were appointed a special committee relative to erecting monuments in honor of Gens. Harrison and Homer. A bill was introduced to provide for the inspection and to regulate the sale of illuminating oils.

In the House, a bill was introduced to increase the salaries of school commissioners from $2000 to $3000.

The United States Senatorship.

In the Democratic caucus to-night, Hon. Geo. W. Morgan was unanimously nominated for United States Senator. A letter was received from Hon. Geo. H. Pendleton declining the honor. It is said that the Democrats have agreed to support a Conservative Republican for Senator, provided five Republicans can be obtained who will vote with them. One Republican already has declared his intention not to vote for Sherman. It is probable that J. D. Cox, ex-Secretary of the Interior, will be the man of their choice.
