Masons Give Four Year Scholarship

OGDEN, Utah, Sept. 13. (ANP)-- The M. W. Prince Hall Grand lodge, Free and Accepted Masons, Colorado and its jurisdiction, awarded its first scholarship to a student in this area last week.

The winner of the four year $600 award is Miss Shirley A. Kinsey of this city. She finished second in a class of 628 students in her 1948 high school graduating class. She was one of only six Negro graduates.

She was vice president of the senior class and commencement speaker.

Because of her outstanding record she was selected over nine other applicants from the states of Colorado, Wyoming and Utah.
