ALLEGED CUSTOM HOUSE FRAUDS.—Mr. G. L. Frosch, an importer in Pearl street, has been arrested, and his goods seized on a charge of having committed, for a series of years past, very extensive frauds on the revenue. The allegation is, that in his invoices the amounts were all extended without putting down the thousands. The quantity and price were right, but the extension only for the tens and hundreds. Thus, a case of goods which should have been extended 73700 francs, was actually extended 737 francs. In this condition the invoices were presented to the first clerk, whose business was to take off the aggregates.

After leaving him and passing through the hands of two or three other clerks, whose business it is to check something or other, the importer comes to the appraisers, whose duty is to go over the calculations. Before presenting his invoices to them, it is alleged that Mr. Frosch prefixed the proper figures in the place of thousands, so that all was right there and everywhere; yet the whole work was quite wrong, for he only paid duties on the hundreds and tens, and had the thousands clear.—N. Y. Courier.
