Resolved, That this meeting have heard with sentiments of the deepest regret, the severe and almost unprecedented calamity which has befallen their fellow-citizens of Petersburg; in which calamity, they receive the most heartfelt sympathy of this meeting --and that this Meeting will unite with its sympathies, the pecuniary succour which, such a calamity makes necessary to many of its victims.
Resolved, That subscriptions be immediately opened, to secure the contributions of all those disposed to extend their liberality to the unfortunate sufferers.
Resolved, That to give the speediest effect to the foregoing Resolution, Silas Wood, John Ross, & John Minor, be appointed a committee to receive and transmit the subscriptions which may be made for the relief of the sufferers by the late fire in Petersburg.
