LOS ANGELES, June 30. (U.P.) —
Richard M. Cannon, who said he was the son of Bishop James Cannon of the Methodist Episcopal Church, South, reported to police today that a bullet passed through his automobile about midnight while he was driving on Valley boulevard.
The bullet, police were told, narrowly missed Cannon's nose.
Police were informed that a dark sedan containing two men, one in the back seat and the other driving, approached Cannon's car near the Los Angeles city limits. The man in the back seat assertedly fired the shot. At the approach of two other motorists, the sedan sped in the direction of Alhambra, police were told.
Cannon recently was involved in some law suits here on charges that he violated the state labor law. He was acquitted or won dismissals on several counts and won a reversal in the appellate division of the superior court on the sole conviction.
