Prolific Corn.—A stalk grew the last season on the farm of Messrs. Foster Day & Son, near this town, and bore seven ears of corn, on six of which were seventeen hundred large plump grains, and on the seventh, there were about one hundred, making in all about 1,800 grains from a single seed. It is worthy of record, that this stalk sprung from eight rowed seed, and produced two ears of ten, two of twelve, and three of eight-rowed each. Our informant says he never heard of an instance of such prolific production. Essex County goes ahead in raising good corn.—Elizabethtown Journal.
