'Occasional' writes from Washington that Buchanan is writing a book:

I understand that Mr. Buchanan does not conceal the fact that he is preparing to launch a thunderbolt upon the country, either before or after his death, in the shape of a history of his own time, and a vindication of his Administration. In this great work he is assisted by Ex-Attorney General Black, who spends most of his time in this city, and his last private Secretary, Adam J. Grossbrener, of the county of York, in your State. Both of these personages have paid a recent visit to Wheatland; but Mr. Grossbrener is the more active collector and compiler for the forthcoming brochure.
