West Point, Dec. 24.--A great test with Stafford's projectiles to-day produced wonderful results on an iron target 6 and 8 inches thick and backed with 15 inches of live oak, which was perforated and set on fire by two shells containing one gallon of Greek fire each. The aperture made in the iron was 14 inches in diameter and the wood and bolts were terribly broken. The ignition was secured by impact and it continued to burn until extinguished by the direction of the officer in charge.

The gun used was an 8-inch Parrott rifle.
