The Circuit Court has been in session for two weeks past, the Hon. Judge Baxter presiding until called home by sickness in his family. On Wednesday last, Hon. W. B. Martin, presiding, commenced the trial of William and James Bowles, and Charles and David Askew, for the murder of Jethro T. Sowell, near Williamsport, sometime last spring. The Askews were acquitted, but the jury, after retiring for half an hour, brought in a verdict of guilty of murder in the second degree against the two Bowles, and sentenced each to fifteen years confinement in the penitentiary.—Columbia Intelligencer.
