The dozen young pupils of the Jack and Jill Kindergarten of Lillington presented a colorful play, "The Calico Cat" on Thursday night, at the school house as their commencement program.
Beautiful costumes and a stage setting depicting a stone castle in wooded area gave a professional background to the children's performance. The stone towers of the castle, the realistic trees, and flowers were the original stage designs of Mrs. Casey Fowler, who assists the kindergarten director, Mrs. Bob Baggett, with handcraft instruction.
Ray Stewart, son of Mr. and Mrs. Bradford Stewart had the title role of the Calico Cat. Other characters in the play were Little Boy Blue; Mike Mann, Goldilocks, Donna Rae Stoltz; "Pinocchio," Jimmy Jackson; "Jack Beanstalk, Junior Breeden; "Tin Soldier," Freddie Holloway; "Little Two Eyes," Nancy Brown; "Frog Prince," Stevie Adcock; "Black Sambo Neil Ross, Jr., "Red Riding Hood," Becky Hill; "Knave of Hearts," David Harrington; and Humpty Dumpty, Barry Johnson.
Diplomas were awarded by Mrs. Baggett at the close of the program. Ray Stewart, who had a perfect attendance record also received a gift from the director.
Graduates were Stevie Adcock, Nancy Brown, Junior Breeden, Becky Hill, Jimmy Jackson, Barry Johnson, Freddie Holloway, Ray Stewart, Mike Mann and Donna Rae Stoltz. Two month certificates
