FALSE MARINE RUMOR
Last week there were two important items of news, the second one cancelling the first, but together furnishing two interesting items of public information. The first on Wednesday was that the Ann Arbor carferry No. 5 had been lost. The next day there was the equally startling information that the boat was not lost, and had not even been mislaid, but was running its schedule without knowing apparently that it ought to be at the bottom of Lake Michigan. It is a strange trait in human nature that starts these groundless rumors of calamities that cruelly bring a chill to the hearts of the many families and friends of the supposed victims.
