ORIGINAL PAPERS.

For the Spirit of the Age.

The Division located here is thriving fast; every meeting there is a rush for membership; and not only here at this Division, but in this county the good cause of temperance is progressing. I visited Farmington Division at its last meeting, and I found the brethren and ladies fully in the spirit of the great work.

The names of four gentlemen were offered and received as members, at the last meeting at Farmington; and so it is about every meeting here and there. The members are fully imbued with the right spirit, and the dram-drinkers are giving way and becoming few. The inquiry is for light on the cause of temperance.

The school closed at this place on the 9th inst. The time was interesting. The fall session will commence on the 20th of August next, and parents wishing to send their children to a good school, may send them here.

I do think that this Division will soon be the banner division, if it is not already. It is but about eleven weeks old and it has about sixty-five members, including the lady visitors. When I lived in Stanly, I thought I knew something about receiving in members: and did; but nothing to compare with this. I hope my Stanly friends will take encouragement and try to imitate our example.
