HOUSE COMPLETES ACTION ON DOG LICENSING BILL
JUNEAU (P) The House completed legislative action yesterday on a bill which would require every dog in the state to be licensed, except for work dogs which are not allowed to run at large.
The measure provides that dog control ordinances enacted by cities or villages extend to the surrounding area within 20 miles of the municipality.
It also provides that the owners of all dogs not licensed in this manner must obtain a license for their dogs from the Department of Revenue, at a cost of $1.
The metal tag license must be attached to the dog's collar.
Any dog found running loose without such a tag and collar would be deemed to be without owner and may be destroyed by a peace officer.
