Tijeras Canyon Resort Said to be a Menace to Camp Discipline Under Fire from Three Official Quarters.
Steps to act on the grand jury's recommendation to revoke the license of the Midway Inn, conducted at the Trimble ranch at the mouth of Tijeras canyon, were taken by the county commissioners today. George Sturdevant, in whose name the license stands, was ordered to appear before the board on October 9 at 2 o'clock p. m., to show why his license should not be taken away on evidence brought before the board affecting said license.
The Midway has drawn attention not only from the county authorities, but from state and military authorities. Governor Lindsey himself this week ordered Adjutant General Baca to investigate the place, which had been reported to him as a menace to discipline at Camp Funston. Adjutant General Baca arrived here last night.
The Midway was recently visited by a raiding party from the sheriff's office, which was accompanied by General Baca and Provost Marshal Lieutenant Noe.
