MR. HUNTSMAN'S PROSPECTS.—The success of Mr. Huntsman in foretelling the result of the late elections in Tennessee, seems to have induced some whig editor to consecrate him a Prophet. Availing himself of his rights as such, Mr. Huntsman has put forth a second chapter of prediction, which will be found in the following letter:
To the Editor of the Republican:
Dear Sir: As some of the Whig Editors have consecrated me a Prophet because I thought proper to send some calculations upon the late election to a Democratic friend, I will, for the satisfaction of the whigs, accept of their appointment, and utter a few prophecies for their benefit:
Item 1st. I predict that the whig party, by that name, is perfectly annihilated, and that they will never engage in another Presidential canvass under that cognomen, but that they will change their name to that of Native American, or some other, to deceive the people before the next election.
Item 2d. I prognosticate that the whigs will try to claim the Annexation of Texas as a whig measure, unless there is a likelihood Item 1st. I prophesy that the tariff of 1842, which was passed by the whigs, will be the cause of a dissolution of the Union, and then they will swear that it is a Democratic movement.
Item 3d. I prophesy that in less than two years they will proclaim to the world that they never were for any other than a revenue tariff, especially after it shall be reduced to that point by Congress by equitable principles.
Item 4th. I prophesy that the whigs, northern abolitionists, and federalists, are to join heart and hand in the acquisition of the Oregon Territory, notwithstanding their opposition to Texas on the ground of making our territory too large.
Item 5th. I prophesy, predict and foretell, that at the next Presidential election the whig party is to make a powerful effort to coalesce with the abolitionists to defeat the democratic party, it being their forlorn hope.
Item 6th. I prophesy that the whig party has changed their politics so often, the abolitionists will not trust them.
Item 7th. I prophesy that the whigs in this State will endeavor to bring out James C. Jones as their candidate for governor at the next election.
Item 8th. I prophesy and predict that in the event that he offers for Governor aforesaid, that Aaron Jr., with the aid of Brownlow funds, will make a larger Bull Calf of him than Aaron of old did out of the gold rings, bracelets and jewelry of the Children of Israel on Mount Sinai.
Item 9th. I prophesy and predict that about the first Tuesday in December next, the great whig mystery will be solved of 'who is James K. Polk.'
Item 10th. I prophesy that before and at the next Presidential election, a large number of honest, well meaning whigs will repent of their evil way and join the democrats, as they hate minorities any way.
Item 11th. I prophesy and predict that my old friend, W. W. Gates, editor of the West Tennessee Whig, will not stop at his contemplated settlement on Salt River, but will move to Oregon, turn democrat, and edit the first State paper printed for the new State of Oregon, when it shall be established.
Item 12th. I prophesy that W. W. Gates will not charge me any thing for taking his paper from last fall up to the late election.
Now, Messrs. Editors, if it shall so turn up that the whigs shall need another chapter of prophecies, as they conferred the title upon me, I feel bound to give it to them.
