We further learn, that this event was made known to the Senate on Wednesday last by a message from The President, who at the same time was pleased to nominate William Short, Esq. Charge des Affaires for the United States, at that Court, during the absence of Mr. Jefferson.
The nomination, we hear, is confirmed by the Senate.

His Excellency Thomas Jefferson, Minister Plenipotentiary from the United States to the Court of France, has requested leave to visit America, and The PRESIDENT has granted him permission accordingly. This event was made known to the Senate on Wednesday last by a message from The President, who nominated William Short, Esq. as Charge des Affaires for the United States at that Court during the absence of Mr. Jefferson.
